Profile

Your Shosho profile is a Nostr profile. The same profile works on Shosho and all other Nostr websites and apps, like Primal, Amethyst, and every other place that Nostr live streams are shown.

Guest profiles

The first time you open Shosho, you’re automatically given a guest profile — a real Nostr profile with no display name or picture set yet. You can watch, chat, react, and follow without doing anything else first. When you’re ready, edit the guest profile (see below) and it becomes your permanent Nostr profile, usable across every other Nostr app.

Edit your profile

To update your profile, open the menu, and press My Profile. Then press Edit Profile. The fields you can set are:

  • Display Name — what other people see in chat and on your profile.
  • Profile picture — your avatar. Press to upload a new one.
  • Banner — the wide cover image at the top of your profile. Press to upload a new one.
  • About — a short bio.
  • Website — your homepage URL, if you have one.
  • Identifier address — a human-readable Nostr identifier (e.g. me@my.website) that lets others verify your profile via your domain.
  • Lightning payment address — your Lightning address (e.g. me@my.website), so people on other Nostr clients can send you zaps.

Press Save when you’re done. When you change a banner or profile picture, the image is uploaded to a Nostr media server and the URL is recorded in your profile.

Profile changes are published to the Nostr network and will be updated on Shosho and all other apps and websites that use Nostr.

Using multiple profiles

You can add multiple Nostr profiles to Shosho and switch between them — useful if you keep separate profiles for personal vs work, or for testing without using your main profile, or for different streams to different audiences.

  1. Open the menu and select Switch My Profile.
  2. Login with the additional profile.
  3. Shosho remembers your previous logins so you don’t have to re-authenticate.

Using multiple devices

You can log in to Shosho on multiple devices with the same profile. You can use this to make it easy to follow the chat while you are creating a stream, for example:

  • Phone — running the Shosho app, broadcasting your live stream.
  • Laptop or tablet — running the Shosho.live  website, monitoring and replying to chat.
