Create your profile
Shosho is built on Nostr, an open social protocol where your identity is a set of keys you control — not an account on someone else’s database. There’s no email or password.
You always have a guest profile
The first time you open Shosho — on the app or the web — Shosho automatically gives you a guest profile, so you can start watching, chatting, and zapping straight away. The guest profile is a real Nostr profile under the hood; it just has no display name or picture yet.
The first time you press the chat box, if you haven’t set a username, Shosho will prompt you to pick one so streamers know who you are.
Personalise your profile
You can fill in your profile any time:
- Open the app menu and press your avatar.
- Press Edit Profile.
- Set a display name, profile picture, bio, and more.
- Save.
Your profile keeps the same public key as the guest profile, so you don’t lose anything you’ve already done. Once you’ve set a display name and picture, your profile can be found by your public key (or npub) in any Nostr app — Primal, Amethyst, Damus, Nostrudel, Zap Stream, and so on.
Make sure to back up your private key so you can take your profile with you to any other Nostr app.
Already have a Nostr profile?
If you already use Nostr in another app, log in with that profile instead — see Login methods. Your existing follows and history come with you in place of the guest profile.
